DEWA 240 MIGD SWRO Plant
Location: Dubai, United Arab Emirates
The Dubai Electricity and Water Authority is building a 240 MIGD Sea Water Reverse Osmosis plant under the Independent Water Project model. This plant will secure Dubai’s future drinking water supply as the city grows. Royal Oceans supports this project with temporary marine structures needed during construction. Our crews built a temporary jetty to move equipment and materials by sea. We also formed a discharge basin and siltation basins to manage water flow during the works. Alongside this, our team repaired existing revetment structures along the shoreline to keep the site stable and protected from wave action.

DEWA 240 MIGD SWRO Plant
Location: Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates
This project sits on Al Saadiyat Island, one of Abu Dhabi’s most recognised waterfront destinations. Package 1B covers a cut-and-cover tunnel crossing the Khor Laffan Channel, the narrow waterway between Saadiyat Island and Umm Yifeenah Island. Building a tunnel through a tidal channel demands strong coastal protection on both banks. Royal Oceans installed rock revetment to shield the tunnel corridor from erosion. Our team laid geotextile fabric beneath the rock layers to stop soil loss, then fitted polyethylene liners for extra waterproofing. Two full layers of rock were placed to complete a stable, long lasting barrier along the channel edge.

Rixos Resorts Beach Nourishment and Reconstruction of Rock Revetment Groyn
Location: Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates
Rixos Resorts wanted a wider, more stable beach for their guests, so they turned to coastal engineering to make it happen. Royal Oceans designed a full beach protection plan, starting with a detailed survey of the beach and seabed. Based on that survey, our team levelled the beach and backfilled it with fresh sand to restore its natural shape. To stop the new sand from washing away, we installed scour protection and buried protection tubes beneath the surface. A rock groyn was then built and filled with sand, using geotextile and polyethylene sheets under the rock to lock everything in place.

Maafushi Island Jetty Dredging and Rock Groyn Construction
Location: Male Atoll, Maldives
Maafushi Island is one of the most visited islands in the Maldives, and its marina needed more room for boats. Royal Oceans dredged the marina to deepen it from minus three to minus eight metres, giving larger vessels safe access. Our excavators cleared the seabed carefully to protect the surrounding reef. We then built a 150 metre quay wall to give boats a solid place to berth. A rock groyn was added and backfilled with sand, with geotextile and rock layers installed to keep the new structure stable against the tide.

Jubail 3B IWP
Location: Jubail, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia
Engie is developing a 570 MLD Independent Water Plant in Jubail, a major industrial town in Saudi Arabia’s Eastern Province. This plant will draw seawater through intake pipelines and return treated water through outfall lines, so both must be built to exact standards. Royal Oceans installed GRP intake and outfall pipes along with a dedicated chlorination pipeline. We backfilled around the pipes using gravel first, then covered them with dredged material for added protection. Our team also installed the intake tower and backfilled around its base. Three navigation buoys were placed to mark the site for passing vessels.

Juffair Development
Location: Manama, Kingdom of Bahrain
Bahrain’s government reclaimed land in the Juffair area to create more space for residents and new development. Royal Oceans carried out the marine works behind this expansion. Before reclamation began, our team installed silt curtains around the work zone to stop sediment from spreading into open water. Excavators then reclaimed the land in stages, building up new ground along the coast. Once reclamation was complete, we laid geotextile layers on the revetment to protect the new land from erosion, followed by rock revetment to hold the shoreline firm against waves and tidal movement.

Hudayriat Central Island
Location: Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates
Hudayriat Island is fast becoming one of Abu Dhabi’s key leisure and residential destinations. This project involved building a five kilometre quay wall and crown wall along its shoreline. Before the main works began, Royal Oceans assembled and installed a silt curtain around the site to contain sediment. Our team carried out ongoing refurbishment of the curtain units throughout the project to keep them working at full strength. Once construction was complete, we removed the silt curtain and handled its disposal and recycling in line with environmental requirements.

The Pearl Island
Location: Qatar
The Pearl Island needed a reliable system for boats to dock along its waterfront, so Royal Oceans supplied and installed a full floating pontoon system. Our scope covered both the supply and installation of pontoons and gangways, built to handle daily use in open water. We installed 610mm piles to anchor the pontoons firmly to the seabed. A 28 metre gangway was fitted to connect the shore to the floating structure. Each pontoon section was then installed and secured, giving The Pearl Island a stable, long term docking system for residents and visitors.

Hudayriat Biotopia Project, Abu Dhabi
Location: Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates
The Biotopia project on Hudayriat Island required a 700 metre rock revetment bund along with protection for an underwater pipe. Royal Oceans began by installing a silt curtain to contain sediment during the works. To protect the underwater pipeline, our team supplied and installed precast concrete U-shaped covers over its full length. We then built the rock revetment bund to shield the shoreline from wave energy and support the wider Biotopia ecosystem plan taking shape on the island.

HDPE Liner Supply & Installation Projects
Location: Multiple sites across the GCC
Royal Oceans delivers full HDPE lining packages for water and containment structures across the Gulf region. Every project starts with engineering submissions and material approvals to confirm the liner meets project specifications. We supply certified HDPE geomembrane liners and prepare the subgrade before any material is laid. Our team deploys and positions each geomembrane panel with care, then joins the seams using wedge and extrusion welding. Every seam is tested, first through air pressure or vacuum box methods, then through destructive testing to international standards. We finish each project with anchor trenches, termination systems, detail repairs, and full QA/QC documentation before handover.
