Global Jetty Construction Services

Jetty Construction: An Overview

A jetty is an artificial structure that projects out into the water from the shore, forming a secure foundation on which boats can be safely moored, loaded, and unloaded. Jetties have been built for various uses from small marinas to large industrial ports. Designing and constructing a jetty involves designing and building a jetty that takes into consideration the wave action at the site, the water depth at the site, the nature of the sea bottom, and the intended use of the jetty.

It is worth noting that jetties are integral in today’s marine construction as they offer safe harbor for boats in all ports and marinas across the globe. In order to construct such projects effectively, there should be good planning in order to ensure efficiency and reliability of the structure. At Royal Oceans, we have offered jetty construction services along with our Dredging & Reclamation services, which are further supported by our  Breakwaters & Shore Protection Services.

Our Jetty Construction Capabilities

Fixed Jetty Building

Fixed Jetty Building

We design and build fixed jetties through steel or concrete piling which are meant to provide long-lasting access points for port, industrial terminal and commercial marinas.

Floating Jetty Building

Floating Jetty Building

Our company designs and builds floating jetties which naturally float up and down with the tide; thus, they are well-suited for recreational marinas, yacht clubs and areas with variable water levels.

Marinas Yacht Clubs Jetty

Marinas & Yacht Clubs Jetty

We build jetties specifically meant for use in marina and yacht clubs where vessels can dock safely and passengers board or alight from boats.

Industrial Commercial Jetties

Industrial & Commercial Jetties

We design and build industrial and commercial jetties for activities such as cargo loading/unloading, fuel transferring and vessel servicing.

Piling Foundation Construction

Piling & Foundation Construction

Our firm performs piling in the marine environment to create a strong foundation for fixed jetties that will endure in the face of constant loads and wave actions.

Decking Superstructure Construction

Decking & Superstructure Construction

We perform the construction of jetty decking and superstructure components from durable materials appropriate for the environment and use of the jetty.

Key Features of Our Jetty Construction Services

  • Built to endure the specific wave action, tides, seabed, and marine environment at the site.
  • Made from high-quality marine-grade construction materials, such as steel piles, reinforced precast concrete, and marine timber.
  • Designed for commercial ports, industrial sites, marinas, water front developments, offshore sites, tourist sites, and recreational marine use throughout the world.
  • Made available in fixed, floating, and combined jetty forms, depending on the needs of each project.
  • Built to be suitable for safe mooring of vessels, handling of cargoes, embarking and debarking of passengers, and regular marine activities.
  • Built for long-term structural effectiveness through the use of corrosion-resistant materials and low maintenance construction techniques.
  • Developed according to internationally accepted marine engineering standards and environmental requirements.
  • Backed up by hydrographic survey, geotechnical investigation, environmental assessment, and engineering analysis prior to construction.
  • Specifically designed to fit various water depths, sizes of vessels, loads, and requirements of each project.
  • Made using modern marine construction machinery and techniques.

Supporting Global Ports, Marinas & Waterfront Developments

A well-designed jetty is an essential element of any modern port, marina, offshore facility or waterfront development. Regardless of its intended purpose – commercial shipping, industrial activities, tourism or recreation – a jetty forms the key link between the activities on water and those on land.

Jetty Construction is Possible in order to Achieve the Following:

  • Safe docking, berthing and mooring of vessels regardless of their size.
  • Cargo handling and transportation in ports, terminals and industrial facilities.
  • Passenger boarding on ferries and other forms of water transport.
  • Expanding the waterfront area to be used for development purposes.
  • Offshore access for maintenance and inspection activities.
  • Improved efficiency and capacity in ports, harbors and marinas.
  • Sustainable marine infrastructure for coastal development.

Given that nations across the world keep on investing in ports, coastal, offshore and waterfront development projects, jetty construction becomes a vital component of modern port development.

Frequently Asked Questions

How is a fixed jetty different from a floating jetty?

In this case, a fixed jetty is one that is firmly attached to the bed by use of piles and maintains the same height, whereas a floating jetty is one that is floating on water and rises and falls in accordance with the tides and therefore ideal for sites with high variation in water levels.

The time needed is variable depending on the size of the jetty and the nature of the job. Recreational jetties can be built within a matter of weeks while commercial jetties take months to build.

Some common materials used include steel piling, pre-cast concrete, marine grade timber and marine grade fittings.

Yes. Inspection should regularly be carried out in order to check for wear and tear as well as corrosion due to wave impact and vessel collisions.

Yes, Jetties can be designed with a number of different berthing configurations to cater for vessels of varying types.
